Fit for private and international schools
Multi-curriculum grading, several interface languages, fee management with online payment, and a parent portal. District-scale state reporting is not a criterion.
Buyer's guide · September 21, 2026
Nine systems that private and international schools shortlist most often, compared on the things a bursar or head actually decides on: whether the price is published, whether the timetable builds itself, which languages families get, and how long it takes to go live. Every claim about another vendor is limited to what a public source states; where a vendor does not publish something, the table says so instead of guessing.
Four criteria, weighted for a private or international school rather than a public district.
Multi-curriculum grading, several interface languages, fee management with online payment, and a parent portal. District-scale state reporting is not a criterion.
Whether a school can budget from the website. Quote-only pricing is not a fault, but it is a cost in time and it hides per-module add-ons.
AI timetable generation, built-in messaging (including WhatsApp where parents use it), and an assistant that answers questions from the school's data.
Weeks, not terms. A system that takes a school year to implement costs a school year of the old problems.
"Ask vendor" means the vendor does not publish that fact; it is not a no.

Best for: Private and international schools that want AI timetabling, four interface languages and a published price
Skoolia is a cloud school management system built for private and international K-12 schools. It combines student records, admissions, attendance, an AI timetable generator, gradebook, fees, HR and parent communication in one platform, with Najiba, an assistant that answers questions from the school's own data.
Best for: Small private schools that rank support and value above everything else
DreamClass is a school management system for small private schools. It holds a 4.8 out of 5 rating on Capterra and was named a 2026 Capterra award winner for Best Value, Best Customer Support and Most Recommended, which is unusual for a vendor of its size.
Best for: Small US private and faith-based schools that want simplicity and hands-on support
Gradelink is a long-established student information system for small private schools, particularly in the United States. Independent roundups describe it as affordable, fast to set up and easy for staff who do not want to be overwhelmed by features.
Best for: Language schools, tuition centres and small education businesses in Europe
Teach 'n Go is a lightweight management platform for small private education businesses. Its own guidance leads with ease of use, multilingual support, integrated payments and a parent portal, with plans starting at €69 a month.
Best for: Growing schools and groups that need deep customisation of an all-in-one platform
Classter is an all-in-one school and college management platform that combines administrative, academic and financial modules. It is known for configurability, which suits schools whose processes do not fit a standard template.
Best for: Large independent schools that want a single ERP across admissions, academics, billing and alumni
Veracross is an enterprise platform for independent private schools, spanning admissions, academics, billing, development and alumni relations in one database. It is a heavier system suited to larger schools with dedicated operations staff.
Best for: Private K-12 schools where fundraising and advancement drive the software decision
Blackbaud Education Management is an all-in-one platform for private K-12 schools that integrates the student information system with Blackbaud's fundraising and financial products. Schools that raise significant money from donors get the most from it.
Best for: UK independent schools and international schools on the British curriculum
iSAMS is a modular management information system widely used by UK independent schools and British-curriculum international schools. It is mature and broad, licensed per module on a custom quote.
Best for: US public districts and schools with state-mandated reporting
PowerSchool is the most widely deployed student information system in North America, with state-reporting integrations built over decades. For a private or international school outside that context, much of that depth goes unused.
Skoolia (from $99 a month, all modules) or Teach 'n Go (from €69 a month) if the school is a language or tuition business. Both publish their entry price and neither needs a sales cycle to start.
Skoolia for Arabic, French or Spanish-speaking families and multi-curriculum grading; iSAMS for a British-curriculum school that wants the established UK option.
Veracross or Blackbaud when fundraising and alumni are core; PowerSchool when US state reporting is mandated. Expect quote-based pricing and an implementation measured in months.
Cloud systems for K-12 schools are typically quoted between $2 and $15 per student per year. Vendors with published plans, such as Skoolia at $99 a month for up to 500 students (about $2.40 per student per year on monthly billing) or Teach 'n Go from €69 a month, sit at the low end; enterprise platforms such as Veracross and Blackbaud are quote-based and usually higher.
For a school under 500 students that wants to budget from a published price and go live in weeks, Skoolia and Teach 'n Go both publish entry pricing. DreamClass and Gradelink are the two most often recommended by independent roundups for small private schools in the United States, with DreamClass holding the highest Capterra rating in this list.
Look for the curricula the gradebook supports and the interface languages families will use. Skoolia supports IB, British, American, French, Canadian and Irish grading with English, French, Arabic and Spanish interfaces. iSAMS is the established choice for British-curriculum international schools; PowerSchool's strengths are US state reporting, which international schools rarely need.
Public pages the vendor claims above are limited to. Skoolia's own facts come from its published plan catalogue.
