Teacher's Guide to Parent Communication

Access Teacher Inbox

Click "Communication" in the sidebar. You'll see your inbox with messages from parents and school administrators.

Reply to parent messages

Click on any message to view the conversation. Type your reply and send. All messages are stored for reference.

Send a new message

Click "Compose" to start a new conversation. Select the parent from your class roster and type your message.

Share class updates

Use the Announcements feature to send updates to all parents of a specific class at once — ideal for homework reminders, field trip info, or schedule changes.

Yes, if your school has enabled parent-initiated messaging. Parents of students in your classes can start a conversation, which arrives in your Communication inbox. You reply in the same thread, and the full history stays attached to that conversation.

Messages are stored as school records, so administrators with the appropriate permission can review them. This protects both teachers and families by keeping a clear account of what was communicated, and is standard practice for safeguarding.

Use an announcement when the information applies to the whole class — homework reminders, trip details, a schedule change. Use a direct message when the content concerns one student, such as progress, behaviour, or a specific absence.
