Before you start
For Teachers
- Use a teacher account assigned to the class and subject.
- Confirm the school’s grading scale and assessment policy.
Create the assignment
Open Assignments and create work for your assigned class and subject. Enter instructions, due date, total marks and the appropriate assignment type.
Check assessment treatment
Choose the formative or summative treatment required by your school. Check how it contributes to results rather than assuming all assignments have equal weight.
Enter marks
Use the assignment grading or gradebook view. Match each mark to the right student, check the maximum score and confirm that the change saved.
Write useful feedback
Add teacher-written feedback in the available comments fields. State what the student did well and what they should work on next.
Review before reporting
Check missing marks, unusual values and calculated results. Work with the academic administrator to correct locked or issued reports.
Good practice
- Keep missing work distinct from a zero mark.
- Use a consistent rubric for the class.
- Check the publication workflow before telling families that results are available.
