How to Track Student Attendance

Mark daily attendance, handle exceptions, and generate attendance reports.

1

Navigate to Attendance

Click "Attendance" in the sidebar. You'll see today's attendance sessions — one per class and period, created automatically from your timetable. Open the session you want to mark.

2

Mark attendance

Tap the status for each student: Present, Absent, Late, or Excused. Everyone starts as Present, so you only adjust the exceptions — live counters show the class totals as you go.

3

Add notes for exceptions

Click the notes icon next to any student to add context (e.g., "Doctor's appointment" for an excused absence). These notes are visible to administrators and parents.

4

Save attendance

Click "Save" to record the attendance. The data is saved in real-time and immediately visible in reports and the parent portal.

5

View attendance reports

Go to Attendance → Reports to see attendance summaries by class, student, or date range. You can filter by status (absent, late) and export reports as PDF or Excel.

6

Set up automated notifications

Configure automatic parent notifications when a student is marked absent. Go to Settings → Notifications to enable absence alerts via email or WhatsApp.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Mark attendance at the start of each day or session to ensure accuracy.
  • Use "Mark all present" to set the whole class at once, then adjust only the exceptions.
  • Review attendance patterns weekly to identify students with frequent absences.
  • Enable parent notifications so guardians are informed about absences immediately.
